YES! is a 501(c)3 Florida tax-exempt non-profit organization. YES’s goal is to help people living with disabilities, encouraging them to come out of their homes and into the community. We do this by enriching, educating, and empowering individuals living with disabilities thru various activities, such as seminars, outings, and volunteering.
We have many inspiring stories of how YES! has helped people to come out and become valuable members of our community at large.
YES! was started in 2002, when it evolved out of a blind support group started in 1998. Our founder, Becki Forsell, who became very suddenly blind after a car accident was reeling when her past life was suddenly all gone. She had to figure out how she could feel useful and decided she wanted to help other people with disabilities, sudden or life-long. At a disability conference in Orlando she realized the obvious need for a more inclusive approach; one that includes people with all kinds of disabilities.
Our YES! board meets regularly to assure the organization is achieving its goals.
And of course we are so appreciative of the help of many partner non-profits with similar missions and other individuals in the community. We are very grateful that we have such wonderful people helping us achieve the dreams of YES!
